Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe’s fascination with Daufuskie Island began during visits to the Lowcountry with her husband, Arthur Ashe, in the 1970s. Her interest resulted in a compelling group of photographs that document life on Daufuskie through sensitive, intimate portraits of island residents.
